It might seem impossible to charge an iPhone in just 15 minutes to 100%; after all, how many things can you really do in fifteen minutes? Your commute to work is probably longer than that! However, there is a gadget, which will shortly be on the market and claims to be able to do just that. It is probably not something you have read about yet; there are a variety of more interesting tech developments going on right now. Phones, cameras get far more attention and are possibly easier to market as they have many different capabilities. But, sometimes it is the simplest of things which are almost overlooked and yet of significant advantage in everyday life.
Phones have Come a Very, Very Long Way
The time it takes to charge a phone has steadily decreased over the years, along with, in general, the size of the phone. Of course, the battery on a modern phone, with the many apps available, 3G or even 4G rarely lasts more than a day and always seems to run out when most needed. When you start thinking about how often your phone goes flat at the most inopportune of moments, you realise the need for an app named ASAP Charger.
What is the ASAP Charger?
The ASAP Charger is manufactured by a Company called ibattz, specialists in high quality charging devices, accessories and cases for any mobile. It is an external battery and works, mainly, via brute force. Most standard phone chargers output five volts, just one amp, Apple has a five volt, two amp high powered charger for its iPad, the ASAP Charger works via an incredible twenty volt, five amp output – literally pushing the charge into the battery. In addition to this the latest version of the iPhone comes equipped with a quick charge function – although it is interesting to note this does not come with the standard charger, a higher capacity charger needs to be purchased.
Ibattz will not, understandably, release details of how this charger works; their competitive advantage needs to be maintained. It is due to be available in the very near future and will lead to question of who will be next to offer a similar product. Whilst ibattz have not confirmed the charging time for an iPhone six, they have confirmed the charger will be available in two sizes at its launch – a 5,600 mAh and an 11,200 mAh. iPhone 6 has a battery capacity of 1,810 mAh, which should mean both chargers are capable of multiple fast charges before needing to be recharged themselves.
Of course, it still holds true that multiple fast charging affects longer term battery life, that, coupled with a cautious nature, may mean slower sales of the ASAP Charger than ibattz hope for. Whilst ibattz do have a good track record for producing high capacity, quality chargers, unless it is an absolute necessity, it may be worth waiting for a few reviews to really appreciate its worth.
Additionally, if ibattz have beaten the big Corporations like Apple and Samsung to the creation of this super fast charger, then you can be sure it will not be long before they release similar products and the competition will increase – with the inevitable decrease in price.
Rapid charging is fast becoming a fixture of our everyday lives, BMW even has a rapid charge system developed for their electric cars, and the question will undoubtedly be – how long before a phone can be charged in five minutes? And we’re not just talking about any phone, but about iPhones, which are the BMW of all current smartphones.
