With 2012 behind us, it’s time to take a look at what 2013 could hold for wedding color trends, and what better place to start than with the spring? This season is full of opposites, as bright colors sit alongside neutrals and classic styles get a new, modern twist. There are lots of updates, but we’ve broken down spring 2013 wedding color trends into their respective categories:
The peony continues its reign as the most requested flower, with its pink and red hues dominating spring 2013 floral trends. Spring brides will be glad to know that May is the peony’s peak blooming period, but availability is limited and many brides instead opt for tea roses to get the same delicate look and color palette.
This year’s shows by bridal designers Vera Wang, Oscar de la Renta, Monique L’Huillier, and others showcased some bold and colorful gown designs. From deep burgundy to blush hues, pastel florals, and even black, these gowns went far beyond the traditional white and cream. This trend is only expected to become more popular and accepted as more high-profile celebrities opt for non-traditional dresses.
The bright color trend that dominated last year’s runways has found its way into the world of wedding invitations. Pops of neon coupled with neutral tones (such as cream invites with orange envelope liners) lend a surprising pop, although brightly colored chevron, honeycomb, or Moroccan patterns are also a playful and popular option, particularly in royal blue and shades of green.
Neutral is the name of the game for this spring’s wedding receptions. Gray and taupe is one especially popular combination, but shades of blush with cream or white will also dominate. Pops of black may also dot the decorations.
Although it may not be the first place you think of with respect to wedding colors, the food at weddings is fast becoming part of the décor. Dessert tables in particular are a popular place to coordinate with the rest of the wedding colors. Using different hues of the same color for cupcakes, cakes, and other goodies, as well as napkins and plates, brings the whole table together to complement the room’s overall aesthetics.
These are just a few of the color trends to look forward to as we enter spring 2013. From invitations to flowers, gowns, and more, the wedding world is always changing, and this year is sure to bring some fun and inspirational updates to this traditional celebration.
